CAFE VISIT: FIVE & DIME

I'm so proud of myself I'm trying to update regularly now. Got some spare time cuz I miraculously finished my work for today & tomorrow woohooooo~

Because we haven't had 'breakfast food' in quite awhile, I decided to drag the boyfriend to some cafe on Sunday. I'm always & forever having Western-ish food, while he's super in love with Chinese kinda food?? He needs to have his rice almost everyday & with everything. (think KFC with rice, chicken wings with rice.... I HATE RICE lol)

Waited for him while he had a work meeting then headed down to Five & Dime! I actually couldn't really decide where to go to cuz I've been dying to try so many places, & Newton (where we were at) is near quite a few cafes as well. I was craving so badly for Common Man pancakes.. But I remember seeing pics of this lava cake with salted egg yolk/custard filling & he likes both lava cakes & liu sha baos so yeap.

Kel had the Corn Beef Hash on the left, & Dex (who came along too) had the Big Breakkie with the Strawberry Milkshake. I loved the Corn Beef Hash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The scrambled eggs were so good. Creamy, soft, watery & not too dry. Why can't my scrambled eggs ever turn out like that sobssss. The corned beef was also very nice altho I usually hate beef/pork, I loved this. I didn't try the mushrooms from Dex's plate tho. Also not a fan of baked beans haha.

Actually I've been pestering my girlfriends to go to Five & Dime cuz I've been wanting to try the Mentaiko Pasta (I love everything Mentaiko) but wtf.... idk why I chose the Eggs Benny. LOLOL I am a joke.... but to be fair the eggs were perfectly done, the Hollandaise sauce didn't have overpowering vinegar & I loved the potatoes at the side. The whole thing was rather normal tho. There were slices of wagyu beef at the bottom of the eggs too. I finished my fruits except the strawberries cuz I'm not a fan & was scared it'll be too sour. Hahaha

By then we were quite full & Kel didn't wanna order dessert but I gave up Common Man to come here for the lava cake so WE HAD to order it.

Golden Custard Lava cake! It was like a combination of a chocolate lava cake & a liu sha bao. Neither of which I really like but he loved it & finished all of it. There was melted chocolate inside too. It's like a combination?? Anyway I had a few bites & thankfully it wasn't too sweet, it was just nice.

It was overall a good brunch & I DEFINITELY wanna go back there to have the Mentaiko Pasta lololol I better order it this time.... the next table was also having Fish & Chips & it looked damn good. Especially the chips... wanna go back & try everything else soon!

FIRST POST OF 2014 // EGG CUPS RECIPE

Hi to my dead blog, I believe this is my first post this year & more than 6 months have passed. LOL no idea who still reads this space.. but yeah HELLO!!

SO MUCH has changed since my last post here. Actually it's kinda like a contradicting situation.. alot has changed but alot has remained the same. Yknow? Haha I should stop confusing people here. Anyway, I've been wanting to update but honestly, I AM SO SICK OF WRITING. I'm currently writing for skyscanner on a contract basis and churning out travel article after travel article is making me sick to the stomach whenever I have to write something. I guess I'm just lazy to use my brain. It was kinda interesting initially I must admit but now I'm just like.. meh... haha updating now tho cos I'm like almost done with tomorrow's workload & I figured I should do a little update here.

So my life now revolves around writing, (trying to) work on my new streetwear website (which admittedly has been failing miserably because by the time I'm done with my work for the day I'm just like... I don't want to look at my laptop anymore...), my boyfriend, friends. I don't even have much time to cook or make stuff in the kitchen anymore! :-( also haven't travelled out of Singapore for about 3 months.

But hey I just booked tickets to BKK with the boyfriend after this writing job is done (I hope they don't extend the contract) & my family is thinking of going to Turkey in Sept cos my parents will be there for a convention. Mixed feelings on this tho.. not sure I want to spend 2 weeks in Istanbul. No idea what to do there either.. anyone been there before? ask.fm me!! Would appreciate it hehe.

Not gonna bore everyone with my rambling so I'm just gonna post a quick recipe to something I made a few days ago.

Egg Cups

Ingredients:
1) Eggs
2) Carrots
3) Corn
4) Sausage
5) Cheese
(These are the ingredients I used, you can substitute them with anything you want! Like edamame, broccoli, luncheon meat, crabstick, chicken, peas, really... anything. Haha)

Steps:
1) Boil the veggies (if you use any) so they won't be so hard.
2) Fry the sausages (or other ingredients like chicken, mushrooms etc) and add the veggies after awhile.
3) Add some salt to taste, black pepper, you can also add herbs like rosemary if you like to bring out some flavour.
4) Take a muffin tray and separate the ingredients equally in each "cup" space.
5) Beat some eggs (amount depending on how many "cups" you are making) and add black pepper.
6) Pour the egg into each "cup".
7) I added a small square of cheese into each "cup", you can use any type of cheese you want.
8) Put into the oven and watch closely!! Remove the tray when the eggs look cooked. It's up to you how long you wanna leave the tray in the oven cos the eggs will be cooked differently.
I left my tray in the oven for too long cos I was cooking something else at the same time & forgot about it, & my eggs rose so high they looked like souffles, then when I took them out of the oven they deflated & became very ugly. Sobsssss.

THATS IT. Easy peasy & my boyfriend and my maid love it hehe.
Oh don't ask me like how many sausages I used, what was the temp of my oven, I really don't know :-/ I just do everything by trial & error :-)

Okay tata till the next post! XX
